She began her career in a large New York animal shelter, in the HR department. She soon realised, however, that she wanted to contribute in a more hands-on capacity to the well-being of the animals. She certified as a dog trainer and continued volunteering in the shelter whilst working with private clients. After moving to London she set up The Decorous Dog, and until recently ran this in parallel with her work on the Behaviour Team at a well-known South London animal charity.
She is fully insured, and is a member of both the Pet Professionals Guild of The British Isles and the International Association of Animal Behaviour Consultants.
